The Girl With the Dog Killing Uncle

One evening I met up with some Chinese friends at a café. Somehow the topic of dog eating came up. One of my friends – who always swore she had never eaten dog – came out with a confession: not only did her uncle hunt and kill and eat wild dogs, he got her to eat one as well!
I asked if I could do a post on her story and she agreed only on the condition of anonymity as she didn’t want death threats. I promised I wouldn’t reveal her identity to a soul so here’s her story…
When my friend was eight, she was at her uncle’s house. He decided to go dog hunting with his son. The two went off into the woods, the boy carrying a metal pot in his hand.
After a while, they came across a wild dog. The son hit the dog on the back of its head with the pot. The dog was knocked out. They then took it home, where the uncle killed, skinned and then cooked it.
My friend was unaware at the time of how the dog was killed so she had no qualms about eating its flesh. Unlike my parents, who claim dog tastes like chicken, she said the meat was red and chewy.
Once she found out what her uncle and cousin had done to kill the dog, my friend was so disgusted she never ate dog again.
Another friend cracked a joke about her eating her favourite Labrador and her attitude was “No way!”
