The Glowing Eye Effect

Please tell me, am I the only person in the world who likes photos of cats with glowing eyes? Or conversely, why do people make such a fuss about this?
Ever since I have started taking photos of my feline friends, people have been commenting on their glowing eyes.
Recently, one friend went on and on about how I can get a program that will erase the glow so the cats’ eyes will look “normal” (her word, not mine).
“But I don’t want them to look normal,” I said. “I like looking at their glowing eyes.”
“But they look like they don’t have any pupils,” complained my friend.
“No, they don’t. Their pupils are glowing.”
As my friend continued through the pile of cat photos, she came across one where Butterscotch’s eyes were “normal.”
I didn’t bother to explain that that particular photo was taken by someone else.
“See, his eyes look normal in this one,” she said. “It must be because it was taken during the day.”
Bingo! Because my friend Brett and I are busy during the day, we normally catch up in the evening. Catching up involves his cats and my camera. So, no, I don’t have any daytime shots of my boys, apart from one fuzzy shot of Gingersnap who ducked his head the moment I pressed the camera button. It’s a weird photo: his head looks like it is bouncing up and down from the force of the movement.
