For once in his life, the imperious Butterscotch was terrified.

A few days ago Brett had let his babies out onto his backyard courtyard. Next thing he knew, he heard something trampling on the roof.

Normally, when Brett lets his cats outside, they will enter the courtyard, leap onto the U-shaped fence and walk along it until it hits the side of Brett’s cottage. The cats will then fly onto the bottom of the roof and start climbing until they reach the apex. Naturally, when this happens, the cats make a trampling noise.

At first Brett thought it was business as usual until he noticed the trampling noises were louder than usual. He went outside to investigate and found Butterscotch and Gingersnap standing around with their coats fluffed up, looking terrified. Brett looked up and saw a Labrador on his roof. Brett managed to corner the Labrador and grabbed it by its collar. He took down the owner’s number and called him.

The owner said he had asked one of Brett’s neighbours to look after his dog while he was away. Brett then returned the dog to the neighbour and explained to him what had happened.

The dog now gone, Brett returned to his house only to find terrified Butterscotch up in a tree. Brett tried to get him down but failed so in the end, he called his brother.

Brett’s brother, who is taller than him, came and managed to reach high enough to be able to grab Butterscotch by the collar to get him down to safety.

Now that Brett had both cats home safe and sound, he put them under house arrest.
