The Perfect Cats
April 28th 2009 21:00
Call me biased if you want to but I think Butterscotch and Gingersnap are the perfect cats.
Not only are they loving and playful, they do not scratch furniture or curtains. Brett has bought them a cat tower to play with but they don’t seem to spend much time there. Ditto their cat bed. Instead, Butterscotch likes to rest on the brown cube and Gingersnap on the red cushion, the basket or any empty box.
This is just as well as Brett isn’t supposed to have pets in his rented home. But with such well-behaved cats, he can easily hide them when he has an inspection and no one would be the wiser.
Compare them to my ex-neighbour’s Higgins and Miggins. They are also well-behaved cats. The problem is they like to scratch furniture, curtains and the carpet. My ex-neighbour is constantly shooing them away from these areas.
She has provided them with a scratching post, complete with cat toys dangling from it, but they don’t seem to be interested in using it.
On the other hand, my ex-neighbour has these long thin sticks that she likes to wave in front of her cats. Whenever she does this, they go crazy and try to grab them.
Unlike Higgins and Miggins, the only bad habit Brett’s cats seem to have is chewing on Brett’s cardboard boxes. They used to scratch on Brett’s bedroom door but Brett soon put a stop to that by leaving the door open so they can come and go as often as they like. The sound of their claws against the door is enough to drive anyone nuts.

I knew a woman who called her two cats Lawnmower and Catcher. My last two cats were called Basil Brush and Chili Pepper. I like Gingersnap and Butterscotch. Perfect names

Good to hear from you!
That's so cute. While we're on the topic of cuteness, a colleague named his dogs Mona and Lisa.
