The Ruined Book
October 18th 2010 21:00
I am so annoyed. I was walking around the neighbourhood one night after work. Armed with my new Erin Hunter book
HERE, I dropped it on the ground by accident. The book now has tears on the dust jacket and scratches and bumps on the bottom of the cover.
I then spent a few days wondering whether it was worth getting a replacement copy. I told myself I was being silly; it wasn’t as if I had ruined an expensive book so why should I have been so upset about it? Accidents do happen – it wasn’t as if I had ruined it on purpose. But then I looked at all the other Erin Hunter books I have. Almost all of them were in perfect condition due to me normally reading them with a plastic cover on them to protect the book from the grease from my fingers and any bumps. And I love the picture of the mean-looking white cat on the cover. It looks just like me!
After two days of obsessing over it, I bought a replacement copy from Amazon. I am now waiting for it to arrive and have made a vow to be more careful in the future.
