The Search is on…for Cat Fancy Magazine
September 14th 2009 21:01
Now that the Borders CBD store has closed down, my colleagues and I are at a loss as to where we could find a newsagent that would stock the same imported magazines as Borders.
“Kinokuniya book store used to sell imported American magazines but have you noticed they only sell Asian ones now?” asked one colleague. “Will Borders ever open again in the city?”
“I don’t know,” I said before adding that I wish they would.
That discussion reminded me that the latest issue of Cat Fancy magazine was due out on import any day now. The problem was I had tried all the newsagents that sold imported magazines in the city and none of them seemed to carry it. The closest place I could think of was…yep, Borders over at Bondi Junction Westfield. Coincidentally, there was a newsagent in the same shopping centre that also carried Cat Fancy.
So what’s the problem then? The problem is that I hardly go to Bondi Junction and the thought of paying $5 for a return train ticket just to go to one store to buy one magazine sounds like too much hard work.
Then I decided to try a newsagent near where I live. They sell many imported magazines and newspapers. I went in there and yes, they had Cat Fancy magazine. Great! Now my colleague wants me to see if they have a particular imported car magazine he is after…
