The Secret’s out

The secret’s out: Brett has finally discovered just how much I love his cats. While he was at my place one night, he asked if he could look at some photos I had recently gotten developed but hadn’t filed in my photo albums yet. He asked if I had any photos of him. I said yes. I watched as he flicked through the piles of photos. The ratio of photos of humans to Butterscotch and Gingersnap was about 1:20. Brett was not impressed. “You mean you hang around me so you can get to see them?” he asked me mournfully. Of course, I denied it. How could I tell him that these boys have completely transformed my life to the point where I call Butterscotch my husband and now own dozens of cat books? I am fascinated by their species, a species that can be so affectionate as shown by Gingersnap’s frequent head butts.
Brett is not the only person who has noticed the lack of humans and abundance of cats in my photos. My old man has noticed which is why he no longer looks through my photos. The lady who works at the photo lab also knows. I know this for a fact as one day my photos had gone missing. I watched as she pulled up a stack of photos which had Butterscotch on the top and she handed them straight to me without even asking if they were mine. My friend Karina’s eyes glazed over my two large photo albums after viewing two hundred or so shots of my favourite boys.
“So, do you hang around Brett just to get close to the cats?” asked my sister.
“No,” I said. But often Brett has invited me over to his place at inconvenient times. When this happens, I will ask him if he has the cats with him. If he says yes, I will drop whatever plans I have made and race over there to get some feline loving. No wonder people call me the Cat Woman…
