The Store With no Name

My sister is a northern suburbs girl which is why she seldom ventures out to the city, let alone the eastern suburbs which is where I live.
But once a year she does come out to Potts Point for my birthday dinner. It’s been a tradition of mine for years. Each year we have it at the same restaurant with the same people. They might bring their partners along but basically the core group remains the same.
Afterwards, I always walk my sister back to the train station. On the way, I was walking along the main street of PP when I noticed my sister had stopped. I double backed to see her admiring a replica of a taxidermied owl in a shop.
“I like to look at this shop but it has no name. I really want to buy one of the owls,” she said as we took some photos.
Like the time she told me she missed Borders, I was stunned by her admission that she had been past this shop before. But then, she must have walked passed it on the way to the restaurant so of course she would have seen it before. And, it was possible she had seen it during the previous occasion when she was in PP to catch up with an old school friend who had just flown in from overseas.
I thought of all the presents she had just given me. “Do you want me to get you it? Early birthday present?” I asked.
“Only if it’s thirty dollars or less.”
“Judging by the quality, I think it would be closer to a hundred.” My sister had to catch her train so I told her I would return to find out the name of the shop.
To my surprise, there was no name in front of the shop. I checked the side and looked inside the window, hoping there was some sort of signage but nothing. I then took note of the address and went home and started Googling.
God bless the internet. Within five minutes I had a name, a phone number and a web address. I checked out their online store and found the owl. It was sixty five dollars. I asked my sister if she would like me to get it for her but she still thought it was too expensive.
“Well, I saw three of them in the shop window so there’s no rush,” I said.
Memo to Bang! Art: We love your store but can you please put some signage up? Thank you.
