The Time I Dumped a Guy Over a Cat

It sounded like a good idea at the time. I’m a huge fan of Air Crash Investigation (AKA Mayday Air Disasters) so my neighbour decided to set me up on a blind date at her place with an acquaintance of hers, who just happened to be a pilot.
It started off well. He told me about his job and how he almost ended up in an Air Crash of his own. He was also a fan of Air Crash Investigation. I was a little disappointed when he told me he flew small planes; I was hoping he would fly a 747 or MD-11 but never mind.
He obviously liked me as he couldn’t take his eyes off me. It was then he noticed my neighbour’s cats, Higgins and Miggins lurking around in the background. As with any new visitor, Higgins and Miggins were terrified of him.
The pilot then started to entertain me with a story about how he decided to rile his brother’s cat up by bringing over some mice in a cage. He let the cage sit in the middle of the floor in his brother’s living room until the cat couldn’t take it anymore. Then he opened the cage and let the mice out and watched the cat go bananas. He was, by this point, rolling around my neighbour’s lounge in laughter.
I was not amused. I thought he had been unnecessarily cruel and decided to end our date then and there.
The pilot later got my number through my neighbour and called me, begging me to go on another date with him but I decided anyone who thought it was funny to rile any animal up didn’t deserve a second chance.
