Hanging out with Fred one day, he mentioned he heard a cat yowling on the second floor of my building. The penny dropped: That must be the source of the yowling I heard a couple of weeks ago, when I had thought I had heard a cat having intimate relations with a tom.
After Fred had left I was going down the stairs when I heard the yowling coming from the same spot as where Fred detected it. I smiled in joy; I know the person who lives there and I thought, you lucky b*stard!
I later told Fred the guy was lucky to not have been evicted; the body corporate in my building passed a by-law years ago banning pets from the building. Even if the guy’s landlord/lady didn’t have a problem with him having a pet, he would still need to get around the BC. That said, the BC was more concerned about dogs but still, a yowling cat is bound to get some complaints.
