This is About the Grossest Thing I’ve Ever Heard…
October 13th 2010 21:00
Browsing in a bookstore one day, I found a book about various hazards humans can encounter. One of them was the humble botfly. Or, not so humble. Botflies are those horrible flies that lay eggs on human skin. The larvae hatch and burrow under the skin and stay there for eight weeks when it is ready to drop off. The thought of having a maggot inside me sends shivers up my spine.
Remedies include applying nail polish or Vaseline to cover the hole in the skin, suffocating the larvae which could then be squeezed out like bursting a pimple. Wonderful!
