Vicky’s Back (Well, Sort of)

When it comes to social networking sites, my friends seem to be in one of three camps:
- Those who are addicts i.e. they are on them every five minutes
- Those who are infrequent users
- Those (mainly those who work in the financial crime prevention area) who absolutely detest them and will never, ever, in a million, trillion years open a Facebook, Twitter et al account.
I probably fall somewhere between the first and second group. Ditto Brett. Being computer illiterate, Fred would fall under the third category by default.
So I was playing around Facebook the other day when I got an update saying Vicky, my old virtual friend, likes the Cat Protection Society’s Facebook page. I went to that page and also put a ‘like’ flag on it. I then wondered how Vicky was; Brett told me he hadn’t heard from her for ages. I decided to check out her Facebook profile and noticed her videos had been put back up.
Now Vicky had been harassed by someone several weeks ago, which led to her pulling down her videos and photos from Facebook so I never got to see them. I decided to check out the videos before she pulled them down again. I was glad I did: She had a vid of one of her Burmese cats sitting on the turntable while it spun around (for those too young to remember, I mean the record player, not microwave). You can hear peals of Vicky’s laughter in the background. After several spins, the cat flies off the equipment.
I mentioned the video to Brett and he told me he also did the same thing with Butterscotch and Gingersnap. “When I put the record player on, they like to sit on it while it spins. They don’t seem to mind,” said Brett. Unlike a silly human like me, who gets dizzy just from spinning around on one of the rides at the local park…
