Virtual Friends

I am thrilled. One of Brett’s friends is a muso who also happens to be a cat lover. I don’t know this girl very well and certainly not well enough to go over and have a chat to her whenever our paths crossed. One night, though, I was at a club with Brett and I heard this girl perform. I told her I liked her compositions and she was delighted.
A few days later, Brett put a post on Facebook about how good his friend’s band was. I seconded that and next thing you know, I got a friends request from her. I was thrilled. How cool was that, to be befriended by a muso? I told myself I was being stupid to get carried away like that but after a chat to one of my friends (who happens to be a psychologist) he thought my reaction was perfectly understandable.
Seeing an article in a street press magazine about the band gave me a reason to email her. Did she know she was in a magazine? She said no and asked me to get her a copy. No worries – there is a bar right next door to my office that gets copies of this magazine. I told her I would give them to Brett the next time I saw him and she can get them from him. She then told me she loved Butterscotch and Gingersnap and that she had two Burmese of her own.
I knew about these Burmese. Apparently my favourite boys hated them. That said, when I asked Brett about it he said things had changed and the four of them now got on. Nice to know that my boys have some feline friends to play with…
