I have spent the past couple of days haunted by the video of a dog being skinned alive at http://animalsaviors.org/. I was disturbed by what I saw and was surprised I didn’t end up having nightmares about it.
I told one of my friends about it and he was completely disgusted. Just as I didn’t need to watch anymore than the one or two minutes footage I saw, my friend didn’t want to hear all the gory details. He had heard enough. But knowing that he was as disgusted as I was helped.
I signed the online petition at http://animalsaviors.org/ and I got a thank you email back from them. Animal Saviors also urged me to stop purchasing fur products. I assured them that not only have I never purchased fur products, I have no intention of doing so in the future and the same could be said for 99% of my family and friends.
What I found it hard to stomach was how the camera person could just stand there and film it. Did he/she feel any emotion? I hope he/she did. I think if it was me, I would have gone mental and have tried to intervene. On the other hand, the camera person was from PETA and had to get as much footage as he/she could. I shared my feelings with my equally animal-loving friend Kate and she said she would have reacted the same way as me if she saw anyone hurting her cat. It’s nice to know not all human beings are cruel to animals.

I wanted to write that any balanced person must be sickened by such a thing, but then I realised that there was no way I was going to click the link and watch the video - so now I don't know if I am balanced or a coward!
Anyway, someone has to be brave enough to take a stand about such things, so good on you for doing so.

As a blogger, I always sight everything before I mention it on my blog. But it was a horrific video to watch. There were more dogs being tortured but I turned it off after the first dog died. I didn't need to see more.
I posted the link on an earlier blog and put it under the mature content category. That was a mistake because I don't think anyone read that post because they must have thought it was pornography. But I didn't want any kids or animal lovers to click on the link without warning them about how graphic it was.
The dog skinned alive was a huskey so every time I see a huskey I think about that poor dog and I want to cry. Ditto the puppy that was tortured in Melbourne last week.
