Wanted…a Cat Costume for a Fancy Dress Party

It’s the moment every Aspergic person dreads…being invited to the office party. This year’s theme is Viva Las Vegas. This is the second time I’ve been invited to a Las Vegas-theme work function. I attended one several years ago in ordinary clothes. There was no way I was going to hire a showgirl outfit. Nor did I care to dress up as Elvis, a gangster or as a croupier.

My workmates have been trying to talk me into attending. They reckon it will be fun to dress up and mingle. And think of the food! I’m not as keen as I don’t like Elvis or casinos. They suggested I turn up in a cat costume. Not a bad idea. I get to be incognito and because I can’t keep taking the suit of and off, I don’t need to talk to people. By the same token, I get to miss out on all the food and drink. On the other hand, by dressing up as Butterscotch, I look like I am participating. Who says cats aren’t into Las Vegas?

But man, I didn’t realise how expensive it is to hire a costume. It’s not the hire that’s so bad but the bond you have to put down. A quick Google turned up with lots of links to web sites who have animal costumes. I could dress up as a lion or tiger or a duck. Looking around my workstation, I saw a large picture of a cat’s face. It was large enough to cover my face. Presto! Nice, simple and inexpensive. I can make a copy of the picture, cut out its eyes and wear it as a mask. No fuss, no need to worry about deposits or collecting and returning costumes. As one of my colleagues watched, I put the picture in front of my face. She thought it was hilarious.

Good idea Queenie, I used to hold a costume party every year and I never paid for one.

I don't see why I should pay to hire a costume on principle. Actually, it's the bond that's more of a problem rather than the hire charge.

I'm not much of a party goer anyway. I prefer to stay at home and read or hang out with cats.

Any news on your babies? My colleague told me her friend has been in touch with you re the orange one.

Its more fun to make the costume anyway!

Axis definitely has a home now, they came to visit him. My sis in law is taking one so only Tawny kitten is left.

There is another feral around that we thought was Zeniths brother. Mum just informed me it must be a sister....Because its pregnant. Shes a true feral - wont come near us - but Im going to break into hopeless tears soon, I cant take it!

It can be cheaper to buy than hire, it really depends where you go. The trick is to do your research and compare prices, also aways check eBay.
