The animal lover colleague who sits next to me is fond of borrowing my books – provided they have plenty of cute pictures of four and two legged friends (two legs as in birds). Since he is a fan of the icanhascheezburger web site, I lent him my icanhascheezburger book. He would read it each time his computer froze. It took him all day to finish it.
The next cab off the rank was a book about Otis the black Labrador guide dog. Again, it took him all day to get through it. Then came a book I had called Wet Cats. He quickly flicked through the first couple of pages and then closed it to go back to work. The book remained closed for the rest of the day. Assuming he wasn’t interested, I took the book home.
I forgot all about the Wet Cats episode until he reminded me today that he hadn’t finished looking (I can’t say reading as there are no words in this book) through it. I told him I thought given how little time he spent turning the pages compared to the cheezburger book that he wasn’t interested. He assured me he was so I must bring it back into the office on Friday.
