Where are my Boys Going to Live?

Brett’s dream to get a bigger place has now become a reality; well, sort of. He has decided to move in with his oldies who are now living in the inner west. The problem is he doesn’t know what to do with Butterscotch and Gingersnap.
“I thought you said they had a cat,” I said to him after he told me. “Can’t you ask your parents if you can bring the boys with you?”
“They do have a cat but they also have a dog.”
Ah ha! Butterscotch is terrified of dogs so no wonder Brett has to find a new home for him until he finds a suitable place to rent.
I would have taken them if it was not for the fact my landlady does not allow pets.
“What about Vicky?” I asked, referring to my virtual friend. “You got her to keep them with her cats when you went overseas. Can’t she do it again? I’m sure she wouldn’t mind.”
Brett didn’t reply. Now I had wished I had asked him; he looked reluctant about handing our boys over to Vicky.
“That’s the thing about having pets: they tie you down,” said Fred. “If you have to find a new place you have to pretend you don’t have them or tell the truth and risk getting your rental application rejected. Aren’t you glad you don’t have cats now that you’ve had to move twice?”
I couldn’t agree more.
