Where are the Susannah Place Museum Cats?

While we’re on the theme of lost feline friends, I also realised I haven’t seen the Susannah Place Museum cats for months as well. That said, on one of the last occasions I saw them, some people were trying to scare the cats. The cats ran under the back fence. Maybe the SPM staff found out about the incident and decided to keep them inside.
Still, this is just getting ridiculous. I have no cat friends to play with anymore. Instead, I curl up in bed with Momo, my large stuffed cat toy. When I cuddle her I wish she was a real cat.
My sister has noticed my loneliness. “You should get a cat,” she says.
“I wish,” I would say, sighing. Unfortunately, with the way Sydney property prices are going, I think I’m going to be renting for the rest of my life; the odds of finding a feline friendly property are slim.
As if reading my mind, my sister will then say, “If you buy your own place, that is.”
My ex-neighbour has trained her cats to hide whenever someone knocks on the door. So far, the property manager does not know she has cats. (I don’t think he would care either as he allows others in the same building to have dogs.)
That said, last night I noticed a strand of Brett’s hair on the floor. It made me think no matter how cleverly someone tries to hide their pets, they still leave hairs lying around. All it takes is for the property manager or owner to have a careful look at the sofa or for them to have an allergic reaction and…the cat’s out of the bag, as they say.
