Would you Abandon This cat?

Watching RSPCA Animal Rescue one night, I noticed a cat that looked liked a Tonkinese. It was stuck under a building and its collar was caught under one of its front legs. The cat was a pale brown colour, with a darker face ie similar in colouring to the cats in the above photo.
The RSPCA officer managed to get under the building but the cat was spooked and ran further away. The officer then set a trap and returned the next day. Viola! There was the Tonk.
The officer got the collar off and noticed the cat was called Pus (pronounced puss). She called the owner and left a message on their voice mail. She then brought Pus back to the RSPCA for a veterinary examination. Under Pus’ front leg, the area was red and raw. All the fur and skin had been rubbed off. The vet said a skin graft was required and next thing you know, Pus was off to surgery.
In the meantime, the owner contacted the RSPCA to say they didn’t want the animal. I felt so sad. How could one abandon a member of what is (in my biased opinion) the most stunning cat breed? Fellow Tonks, Butterscotch and Gingersnap, would probably howl in anger if they knew.
Still, Pus was later adopted by a woman. The cat’s surgery wounds healed nicely and it had a new feline friend and backyard to play in.
